Usage Instructions

Zero3 Fritware (L3924C) is a high-plasticity, fritted porcelain designed for firing at cone 03. The formulation relies on 30% frit as the primary flux, providing rapid vitrification and high density at low temperatures. Material requirements include high-purity New Zealand Kaolin (for whiteness and low iron content) and Veegum or Bentone (for necessary plasticity). A small addition of blue stain (e.g., Mason 6336) is required to neutralize remaining pinkish iron tones; thorough propeller mixing is mandatory to prevent blue specking from stain agglomeration. This body exhibits high firing shrinkage, which provides structural strength and density. Use G2931K as the compatible transparent glaze, which has been formulated specifically for chemical fit with this body. Storage considerations: the soluble nature of the frit may affect rheology or plaster surfaces. Working requirements: maintain a stiff consistency to prevent excessive shrinkage and drying cracks. Bisque firing must occur at lower temperatures (approx. 1500°F/815°C) to ensure adequate porosity for glazing. Firing schedules should incorporate a drop-and-soak approach to ensure glaze clarity and vitrification.
