Glaze: MGBase2. Characteristics: This high-calcium, semi-matte base produces an opaque, eggshell-white surface via micro-crystalline development. Application: Exhibits good suspension properties and uniform coating on bisqueware with minimal cracking. Firing: Requires a controlled slow-cool cycle to achieve the desired matte finish; rapid cooling may result in an unintended glossy surface. Performance: Demonstrates excellent chemical durability, meeting industry standards for acid and alkali resistance. The base is resistant to crazing and shivering. Aesthetic Considerations: Provides a solid, opaque foundation suitable for coloring agents. The surface is relatively flat and does not break over edges. Users should be aware that thin application may result in surface roughness. As with many high-calcium glazes, the micro-crystalline surface may be prone to metallic marking from cutlery.
