G2926B is a high-gloss, ultra-clear, general-purpose cone 6 transparent base glaze characterized by low melt mobility and high durability. It is specifically formulated as a stable host for colorants, opacifiers, and variegators. Firing properties: Optimal results are achieved using the C6DHSC or PLC6DS firing schedules, which help minimize surface defects such as micro-bubbling and pinholing. Application: For best performance, the glaze should be prepared as a thixotropic slurry. Target a specific gravity of 1.43–1.44. Use Epsom salts (approximately 1g per 1000g of dry powder) to induce thixotropy, ensuring even application without excessive thickness. Screening through an 80-mesh sieve is mandatory to remove raw material agglomerates that cause surface defects. Optimization: If crazing occurs, utilize 325-mesh silica or ball mill the slurry to improve silica dissolution. For extreme cases, consider G2926S for lower thermal expansion. To mitigate micro-bubbling when using inclusion stains, add 1–2% Zircopax. Avoid over-application, as thick layers may lead to blistering due to the glaze's boron content. Maintenance: Periodically screen the slurry to remove crystallized particles that form over time, which can compromise the fired finish.
