Notas

Vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) functions as an acidic metallic oxide that primarily serves as a yellow pigment in ceramic glazes. While the color response is typically subtle on its own, its intensity can be significantly enhanced when integrated into frits containing tin and zirconia. Unlike antimony, which is often used for similar coloration, vanadium pentoxide maintains color stability during high-temperature firing. Its chromatic potential is most effectively expressed within lead-based glaze formulations. Beyond its role as a colorant, it acts as a potent flux. Chemically, this compound is recognized as an amphoteric oxide that functions as an oxidizing agent, distinct from the alkaline vanadium trioxide (V2O3).
