Tc2O7

Notas

Technetium(VII) oxide (Tc2O7) presents as a yellow, volatile solid characterized by a molecular structure featuring corner-shared bi-tetrahedra. Structurally, it is distinct among metal oxides for its symmetry, exhibiting specific terminal and bridging technetium-oxygen bond lengths of 167 pm and 184 pm, respectively, with a linear 180° Tc-O-Tc bond angle. Due to its status as a rare molecular binary metal oxide, it shares formal characteristics with compounds such as osmium tetroxide and ruthenium tetroxide. In the context of ceramic and glaze science, Tc2O7 has no established practical function, and its high volatility makes it unsuitable for standard kiln firing processes.
