PrO2 (Praseodymium Oxide)
ID: pro2
Notas
Praseodymium(IV) oxide (PrO2) serves primarily as a colorant in ceramic glazes, where it is utilized to develop lemon yellow pigments when combined with zirconium-based materials. While these stains offer versatility, they generally provide lower color saturation than those derived from antimony or vanadium. PrO2 exhibits stability during reduction firing processes, including those at high temperatures, and is considered less hazardous than the aforementioned alternatives, although it remains a toxic substance. Achieving optimal brightness in yellow coloration is dependent on specific glaze chemistry. Furthermore, the material is highly sensitive to cross-contamination, requiring strict separation from other coloring oxides to maintain color purity.
