KF (Potassium Fluoride)
ID: kf
Notas
Potassium fluoride (KF) is a chemical compound containing potassium and fluorine. In the context of ceramic science and glaze formulation, it is not a standard constituent or common oxide. Because it is a highly soluble halide salt, its inclusion in aqueous glaze slurries is generally impractical, as it will migrate to the surface during drying, leading to inconsistent application and potential leaching issues. Furthermore, the volatility of fluorine at elevated firing temperatures presents significant hazards, including the potential to damage kiln furniture and pose health risks to the operator. Due to these chemical and physical limitations, potassium fluoride is rarely utilized as a raw material for glass formation or fluxing in traditional ceramic practice.
