Usage Instructions

Glaze L3341B utilizes Alberta Slip as a base for iron-crystal development. Incorporating 3% iron oxide provides sufficient saturation for metallic crystal growth; higher additions are generally unnecessary and can negatively impact rheology by causing flocculation and subsequent crawling. Firing is intended for Cone 10 reduction, where iron levels influence both crystal density and melt fluidity. To mitigate drying shrinkage and cracking associated with raw clay content, Alberta Slip should be roasted or calcined prior to formulation. Roasting to 1000°F (538°C) produces a suitable powder consistency while maintaining material performance. If substituting calcined material for raw, adjust the weight by approximately 3% to account for loss on ignition, though direct gram-for-gram substitution is often functionally acceptable.
