Usage Instructions
G2928C is a cone 6, MgO-based silky matte glaze formulated with Ravenscrag Slip. It is optimized for application on whiteware or porcelain, producing an ivory-white, micro-wrinkled surface texture. The matteness is controlled by adjusting the calcined kaolin content. For optimal stability and surface quality, this glaze requires a true cone 6 firing with a drop-and-hold schedule. Cooling rates impact final texture; excessive slow cooling may lead to cutlery marking, while rapid cooling may result in a glossy finish. The glaze displays high thermal expansion resistance and performs well as a functional liner. Application requires careful control of water content; to prevent drying cracks and crawling, avoid using raw kaolin and maintain a fluid slurry consistency. If shrinkage persists, calcine a portion of the Ravenscrag Slip. Due to iron content inherent in the base, colorant stains may produce muted hues; use cleaner base formulations for brighter color response. Tin oxide is included for opacification and whitening.
