Usage Instructions
GA6-D is a Cone 6 Alberta Slip-based glaze suitable for various clay bodies. Preparation: Alberta Slip must be roasted to 1000°F (538°C) before use to eliminate drying shrinkage and prevent crawling; substituting raw for roasted material requires accounting for a 3% weight loss. Glaze properties: The inclusion of frit ensures proper melt flow at Cone 6, while rutile additions introduce blue variegation. The addition of Tin Oxide neutralizes this blue effect, shifting the aesthetic toward the iron-based brown tones inherent in the clay and rutile. Surface modification: Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) can be applied via over-spraying as a thin slurry to induce localized variegation on glossy base glazes. When using titanium sprays, a suspending agent such as VeeGum is recommended for application consistency. Refer to GA6-A documentation for standard mixing and processing protocols.
