Usage Instructions

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: TNF2CG is a Dolomite-based crystalline glaze formulated for Cone 6-9 firing ranges. This variant utilizes tin to modify crystal morphology, shifting development from broad petal shapes to narrow, radiating 'aster' or 'dandelion' structures. VISUAL CHARACTERISTICS: The glaze produces highly opaque crystals against a ground that remains transparent on porcelain bodies, though opacity increases on stoneware. The base ground typically exhibits a slight yellow cast, which can shift cobalt colorants toward cyan. FIRING AND PHASE DEVELOPMENT: The glaze is stable and functional down to Cone 5 if followed by a sustained soak at 1000°C. Tin concentration significantly impacts growth kinetics; increasing tin to 4% inhibits crystal size, resulting in diameters of approximately 1 cm after a three-hour soak. COLORANT COMPATIBILITY: Due to high crystal opacity, this base is highly effective when paired with copper oxides for green developments. APPLICATION NOTES: Optimized for use on white porcelain to maintain ground clarity. Performance on stoneware varies and requires testing for ground transparency.
