Notes & Instructions

Glaze G1216L is a modified formulation of G1214M designed to reduce thermal expansion from 7.0 to 6.5. This was achieved by incorporating MgO via talc and increasing boron content at the expense of CaO and KNaO. The frit composition is calibrated to maintain optimal Al2O3 levels, minimizing drying shrinkage and cracking. Performance testing confirms resistance to thermal shock (300°F oven-to-ice-water test) on Plainsman M370 clay bodies. The glaze is compatible with colorants, notably 10% zirconium silicate for white opaque finishes and 5% Mason 6666 for black. Users should note that G1216L may exhibit a lower glassiness profile compared to standard G2926B formulations.
