Notes & Instructions
Glaze FAAO is a high-dolomite, high-titanium base suitable for firing ranges between Cone 8 and 10. It produces an opaque, crystalline surface. Crystal formation is moderate, with growth rates measured at 1–1.5 cm/h. Appearance varies by temperature: high-temperature soaks yield spoke-like crystals, while lower soaks result in fanned patterns. The background exhibits a white, ivory, and cream-streaked coloration. Crazing may occur in areas of heavy glaze pooling. Optimal crystal control is achieved at Cone 7.5 to 8.0; firing above this range may result in uncontrolled spontaneous crystallization. The glaze is compatible with metallic oxide and stain additions to modify ground and crystal color.
