Notas
In the context of ceramic chemistry and glaze formulation, sulfate (SO4 2-) acts as a polyatomic anion derived from sulfuric acid. While sulfates are ubiquitous in industrial chemical applications, they are typically not functional components in standard ceramic glaze matrices. In high-temperature kiln firing, sulfur compounds often decompose or volatilize before the glaze reaches maturity, potentially leading to surface defects such as pinholing or blistering if residues persist during the melting phase. Consequently, sulfates are not traditionally employed as fluxes, glass formers, or stabilizers in professional ceramic glaze science.
